Hi

I bought a few vallis plants the other day and put them in my tank with other plants allready in there .But after only a few days they started to die and the leaves went mushy. The other plants are doing fine even flourishing as it has co2 in it aswell.

so any ideas to why they are dying the tank does have some sand on the bottom could it be this?or is it something else

This could just be the valls getting used to your tank. Give them time they might start to grow new leafs. How hard is your water? I tend to find they dont do very well in very soft water. Also are you using seachem excel? That's known to 'melt' valls.

Are you dosing with excell....

Excell and vals are a bad mix, they tend to melt with excell.

Lets start with that

ive been using nutrafin plant gro and yes we also do have very soft water round here.

but i have just got some plants off greenline and they sent a free gift of pro aqua plant food it says it has chelated calcium in it so that should hopefuly make it better, what do you think?

Excel & Vallis a bad mix... no wonder I had rampant growth of vallis once my excel bottle finished out and there I was blaming the Metal Halides for it

Thanks for this pointer :)

Hardish water & don't push them too deep into the substate, just the tops of the roots.

Very annoying plant as everyone always tells you how easy it is to grow. It isn't, unless very careful, just rots away to nothing.

Don't think it is a plant that likes additional CO2 ?

Please feel free to disagree
