now that i've replaced my gravel with sand, a lot of the stirred up waste has settled on the top of the sand...

you sand-havers out there, how do you most effectively vacuum the poop off the top?

is the sand heavier than the poop so you can gauge it and not lift up any sand, or do actually lose a little bit of sand each time?

Well.......if you have a gravel vac or similar you kind of hold it just above the sand and swirl it in a circle which makes the poop rise up and then you suck it up. If sand starts to go up the vac just lift it up away from sand and it will drop back down.

I just you a hose (no gravel vac thingy on the end) and swirl it round above the poo and try and get it that way but I always end up wasting a bit of sand every time. It`s not easy to do it without losing some sand, you could always wash the sand and put it back in ?
