Since I am will be changing the sand in my 29 gallon tank today (snail explosion and I like the Tahitian Moon Sand too), I have been searching for ways to do it. I found an older thread where Inchworm said that to suck sand and all out of the tank, to take the large vacuum end off the gravel vacuum and just use the hose. I tried that last night just to see what I was going to do today. Let me tell you, it will almost suck the plants out of the sand (actually did grab the top of one of my anacharis and suck a 6" piece of that down). This definitely works. It was sucking up sand, snails and even the algae that was between the sand and glass (below sand level). Thanks Inchworm!!
