I promise this will be my last daft question. (before I buy the fish anyway!).

All the website reccomend cleaning your gravel with an "aquarium vacuum". Does anyone know where you can get one in the UK and how much they cost? If expensive any cheaper alternatives that work?

Well, I dont live in the UK, so I dont know if this holds true or not... it should.

Anyways, it shouldn't be too expensive. I think maybe 10-20 dollars for a basic one, at your LFS. They are really useful, because you pull out a LOT of junk from your gravel.

Gravel vac are sold at all lfs; they cost between 3 and 4 pounds and are a great investment. They basically consist of a plastic pipe with a small head attachment. You move them up and down a bit to prime them and get the suction going, keeping the other end in a bucket and they suck up water and guck together. Unless your tank is really big the smallest size is probably best; I found the medium size was to big to get around my 19 gallons.
