Hi all

Since I set up my tank I had a fluval 305 ext filter attached. I figured it would help with the turnover of water. I bought the vecton 600 UV (as it was rated for about the same as the fluval flow)and plumbed it to the outlet of my external.

Anyway the external for months hasn't had any benefit to the system so I am thinking of removing it, so here is my dilemna.

How can I run the uv now, I dont want a another large pump in the tank? nightmare not having a sump

Or should I get one of the smaller UV's and inturn a smaller pump?

Suggestions :)

Thanks :good:

your better off with a slower flow rate through UVs anyway. the extra contact time with the bulb helps kill more nasties. I would just but a small ish pump and run the UV above the tank if possible then your never risking a siphon. You dont actually need to eun a UV 24/7 anyway. i only ever run one for a week or so after a new addition or if i see something im not happy with
