Do UV sterilizers have any place in the planted aquarium. Are they good or bad in the planted aquarium. Do they have any impact upon algae perhaps?

Some say that it destroys some ingredients but no proof i use UV i do not see deference on my plants

well I have 1 cuz my water was very cloudy and now my water is very clear... :good:

It's supposed to destroy chelated iron. I would have to assume that if you're water already has enough iron, the chelated iron dosage that the UV breaks down is not needed.

Although many will argue with me that a UV sterilizer is not necessary, it sure does help a lot. After trying to combat my first outbreak of green water by myself with blackouts which killed half my plants, I invested in a cheap UV sterilizer and it has made the difference between having crystal clear water and pea soup. Even if you don't have green water, it cleans up the water so well the water is extremely clear.

There is no proof that this happens and is just speculative at best. Because I use reconstituted RO water I know I have no iron in my water so the only place the plants get their iron is from the chelated traces I add. I run UV 24/7 and my plants show no signs whatsoever of having an iron deficiency.
