Hey everyone its me again :hyper:

Need help with a few questions regarding UV sterilizers and moonlights
No, my water quality is exellent but I always strive to do the best for my fish

1.) I am thinking of getting a Pentair Aquatics Aquastep UV Sterilizer for my 65 gallon tank has anyone used UV sterilizers on their freshwater tanks ? Will it hurt my current bacteria colonies ? I just want the best for my fish.

a.) I have 2 rena XP3 filters running my system. Would I need 2 sterilizer units or would just 1 hooked up to one of my canisters be ok ?

2.) I just purchased a R2 solutions 36" moonlight for my tank. My timers only options are 24/7. When regular lights go out the moonlight comes on until the regular lights come back on. Will it hurt my fish to have the moonlights on all the time while the regular lights are off ? Should I buy a seperate timer for the moonlights and just leave them on for 4 hours with the remainder of the night being completely dark ?

3.) Well I did it against somes suggestions, Got a 3-4" BGK. I plan to upgrade my tank to a 150 gallon next year. He took to his home which I was hoping he would ( Mopani Log/Stump ). My problem is I never see the little guy and am having problems feeding him. I have had him a week ngow. I have been using a plastic garden tool I got at PetSmart with the plier end instead of the cutters on it and lowering a peice of frozen bloodworms / brine shrimp to him in his little stump. I still dont think he is eating enough. Does anyone have any suggestions as my other fish all seem like Piranha when the food goes in?

Current fishload:

2 Angelfish Paired M/L
6 Coradora's
2 Clown Loaches
1 Rainbow Shark 3-4 "
1 BGK 3-4"

Thanks again everyone, I really appriciate all your suggestions and help....... :good:

1 - I don't think the sterilisers are really necessary for FW tanks, if you want one then do and it shouldn't harm your bacteria, but it's a bit of an un-necessary expense as you've nothing sensitive enough to warrant it.

a - if you do get one, i'd just get one

2 - it wouldn't 'hurt' the fish to have moonlights on 24/7 but fish are calmer when it's totally dark, if you make it so it's never totally dark then they'll never get to this real calm state, over time it could be stressful. Just stick them on for a few hrs from when the lights normally go out until your bed time, they don't need to be on when no-one's around anyway do they! Also the BGK is nocturnal, probably wouldn't be good for him to never have any dark night time.

3 - The BGK will most likely eat the cories in time, not good tank mates. he;s nocturnal and will come out at night to hunt/feed, you need to drop some food in by his stump just before you go to bed when the lights are out.
