I have now changed my tank to sand and it looks great.
I think it would look lovely with an UV light in it , i haven a clue with lighting my tank just has a normal (!) light in it at the moment so which one would you recommend?
My tank is 3ft x1 1/2 ft with live plants.
thanks!

wrong section sorry, dont know how to move it!

try inputting your tank details into this. Its excellent. If only i used this 3 days ago then i wouldnt have bought some cheap lights off e-bay (although they really were a good price)

a uv light sounds good but it isnt. i bought a uv light for growing some special 'plants'. the light killed the plants and also damaged my eyes... id stick with normal aquarium lights, a daylight, triplus or plantpro tube are good for plants.
