Hey there, kinda new to the fish game, I bought red lights that go in my normal fish light socket, but i didnt like the look of the red so I want to go back to white. But I do have this UV light that I had for my iguana way back, and I was wondering if I could use this for my fish, The only thing I can think of is the light will cause more algee, or give my fish a suntan, lol

Hi colin_finlay :)

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

I moved this thread to Tropical Chit Chat where you will get more answers to your question. You may start another thread in the Newbie forum to introduce yourself, if you would like.

I definitley wouldn't suggest it. UV kills bacteria, so you could possibly have a tank full of ammonia. Flourescent and metal halide are the lights that most aquarists use.

somebody pls correct me if i'm wrong
