Can anyone tell me if they've used a UV steriliser in their tropical tank? I've seen this Vecton V2 200 Steriliser for around £40 and wondered if it would help against diseases such as white spot etc?

they can reduce the risk of diseases and also certain algae thats free swimming in the water as long as the filter that its fitted to has the same flow rate required for the UV. if the flow rate is too fast then the UV wont be much use as the nasties will travel too fast through it.

the best way to keep diseases out of the tank is to quarentine and treat any fish before adding to the main tank and keep good husbandry up on the tank. if you dont have a quarentine tank then for £40 you can get a full set up to use either new or secondhand. it can also be used for a hospital tank too if required :good:
