using goldfish stuff in a tropical tank?

Do you reckon it'd be ok to use filter media/gravel from a goldfish tank to assist the cycle on a tropical tank?

i heard goldfish can carry diseases which affect tropicals but not goldfish so I as wondering if that's true or just a myth

Coming from my background i do not think taht mixing those things would be a smart idea because they may hold diseaese that are unknown

I've used goldfish in the past to cycle tanks for tropical use. Never had any problem.

Maybe I've just been lucky!
