Hi
If your planning to do regular water changes, and as he's in there by himself, a build up of excess food etc...is unlikely. So i dont think you would notice any benefits to speak of? Especially as his tank is filtered :good: It would be just something else to replace now and again.
Thats how I see it??

i spoke to a friend at the lfs(he knows his stuff), and he said it would help as the filter is sponge and nothing else, its not massively necissary but it would help improve the water quality

ive tonnes of carbon, and im not kidding, so i think i'll give it ago, carbon works better with water flowing through it slowly, so in theory it'll do a better job than the external on the girls tank :good:

the thing to bear in mind with carbon, is that when it reaches its saturation point, it starts to release toxins back into the water. so you need to make sure you change it pretty regularly.

i already knew that, i have carbon in my external, and i know the maintainence of it :good:
