I have done some research and it would suggest that adding aquarium salt to my tank whilst I have Cory's is a bad move.  However, when my fish unit is complete and I have some tanks for individual species are there any do's and don'ts?

Thanks

Aquarium salt should be used in some cases, but not with scaleless fish present in the tank (like cories).  Generally, aquarium salt shouldn't be regularly for any freshwater tank.

Can you be more specific about what you are looking for?

Well I had read that aquarium salt is beneficial to some species and not to others.  A broad thing such as not using it with scaleless fish is exactly what I wanted.  I guess I can check for individual species as and when :)

There's really no benefit for aquarium salt for any species all the time.  Save it to use during ich outbreaks, torn fins, etc.  I have a carton, and have had it for about two years.  I've used it once for a neon tetra with pop eye from an injury.   I haven't used it other than that.

i never recommend using salt on a regular basis in any freshwater tank,

it should only be used for healing a wound, or fighting an infection
