Posting in this section as I know it has quite a few American readers :good:
I am visiting Orlando staying at Kissimee next month
Is there stores that stock aquarist goods in that area that are worth a visit ??
Also can anyone give me any good tips regarding fishing in that area for both myself and my son
cheers Mark

If you are coming to the Daytona Beach area I can recommend a couple stores as well as fishing spots. I am about 1.5 hrs. from Orlando. My nephew goes fishing closer to that area. I will ask him for you ;)

Hoping to take a trip in that direction at some point in the holiday :good:

For fishing in Daytona I recommend this place:

It is right on the beach :)

From Kissimmee, Cocoa Beach is closer than Daytona. They also have a fishing pier, however I have not been to this one:

There are fishing charters that go offshore both areas but are pricey.

The stores here are not that great. Orlando I'm sure has better ones. Orlando Tropical Fish Store looks nice.

Oh.....are you going to Sea World ? It is REALLY awesome !

We are going to Discovery Cove which I believe gives you Sea World tickets as well :good:
Really really looking forward to those days

The is a good LFS. Its called Fishy Business. Its in Longwood , FL Just north of Orlando on I-4. Here is the full adress.

140 S Ronald Reagan Blvd. Longwood, FL 32750

I've been there a couple of times and they always had a nice selection of fish.

Do you want to do some freshwater or saltwater fishing? You should be able to easily find a guided bass fish tour in the orlando area. There is a ton of largemouth bass all over the area. Plenty of lakes as well. If you have a fishing pole bring it with you, or pick up a cheap one there. There is a lake every 1/4 miles. At least it seems that way.

For saltwater fishing, the above advice was good. Cape Canaveral (right next to cocoa beach) should have plenty of charter boats to choose from as well. If you want to fish the gulf just head towards Tampa. Its about an 1 1/2 drive. Great beaches over there as well. The gulf coast is very calm compared with the east coast. Nicer if you have young kids.

If you go with a guided tour, they will provide everything needed. Otherwise, Nothing too heavy. A good spinnig reel and rod. Lightweight. For tackle I would go with 6 to 10 lb test. An assortment of lures would also be good. There are also plenty of places to buy fishing equipment.Check out a place called outdoor world, Its in orlando about 10 miles from Kissimee

Jealous - Discovery Cove is absolutely amazing, one of the best days ever.

Seaworld was a bit disappointing, obviously somebody decided that all visitors wanted to do was wander round gazing gormlessly into tanks, there was little or no information about what you were looking at inside them, for me and my family going to a place like that is fun and educational. We were all a bit suprised that they hadn't taken more advantage of the opportunity to educate the huge audience that passes through there every year.

Do me a favour and if you find a good fish store in that area let me know as I am going next year and I'm sure that my wife will be most impressed that I already know about local fish shops when we arrive!!

Will definitely let you know :good:
Can't wait for Discovery cove - am going to swim with the rays (everybody does dolphins - common :shifty: )
Don't mind gazing into tanks - home from home

Don't miss the underwater viewing for the shark tanks. I know people who have been and didn't know it was there.

I found it by chance, swam down into the ray tank and was watching the huge rays pass over me as I slowly ran out of air sitting on a rock 15 feet below the surface. Turned round and saw a shark not 6 feet away...............frightened the living poop out of me. I came up so fast people were taking photos of me thinking it was a leaping dolphin, I must have cleared the surface by 3 feet.

Of course on closer inspection I saw that they were the other side of a piece of glass............funny Discovery Cove, very funny, wonder how many have been caught like that.
