Us V Uk Gallons?

This confuses me.
These volumes are created by the same measurements, but e.g. 8 x 8 x 8 = 1.84 UK gallons or 2.21 US gallons
Which one do you take as a good guide? An average perhaps?

Most people use US gallons.

when calculating stocking/lighting and other factors that use gallons its almost always US gallons. Thankfully litres are litres, where ever you are

Most people use US gallons when stocking tanks as a guide, however, the most important thing is the exact measurements of the tank when it comes to stocking fish .
