Ok i so i have heard about how US gallons are less in quantity than UK but how much less? How much 200 UK gallons be in US gallons? Should you follow the one inch of fish per gal rule of thumb more with US or UK gallons?
Thanks for your time and any info is appreiciated :)

One US gallon is 1.201 UK gallons, and one UK gallon is 0.8327 US gallons, so 200 UK gallons would be about 166.5 US gallons.
The "one inch of fish per gallon" rule applies to US gallons :)

wrong way around
US gallons are the larger unit.
UK gallons are an Imperial measurment and US is the metric

EDIT
For the maths purist, the formula is UK G X 1.2009= US G

LOL, I thought I was going mad when it said UK were bigger than US.... I only found out recently that inch per gallon is worked out on US, but I used that anyway because you got more fish in :)

IIRC the difference is because the US system uses 16 fluid ounces to a pint (a la oz to the lb in weight), whereas the UK system uses 20 floz to the pint.

just go to google and type in "XXX uk gallons to gallons" or any other measurment and it does it for you!

A 200 UK gallon aquarium would be 240 US gallons.
I believe you've got that the wrong way around... US gallons are the larger unit, so the US equivalent of 200 UK gallons should be smaller than 200 ;)
I think your mistake was dividing 200 by .83 rather than multiplying it.

Sorry Synirr, you've got it wrong. UK gallons are larger.

200 UK gallons is indeed 240.26 US gallons.

Not everything in Texas is bigger! :p

Actually Synirr, you're in the wrong here =/

UK Gallon = 4.54609188 liters
US Gallon = 3.7854118 liters

240 US Gallons = 908.498832 litres (240x3.7854118)
908.498832 litres = 199.841722.... UK Gallons (908.498832 litres: 4.54609188)

--Edit--

SirMinion beat me :p

--Edit Edit--
Also, its worth remembering that the metric system is kilograms, kilometers and litres, whereas the imperial system is pounds, miles and gallons. The US and the UK systems of measurement are both Imperial systems, theyre just different :p
