Hey everyone, my RTBS has been helping to cycle my fry tank, unfortunately I had to set it up in a rush and it was cycling with 2 fry and 3 corys in it but I decided they would be better trading places with the RTBS.

I noticed today he is slightly dull and his gills appear to be red, or almost look they have been bleeding???

I have moved him into the main tank in a breeding trap for meantime?? was that ok to do? and what should I do next??

I have just posted a table of results in the new to hobby section under the heading, cycling, am I there yet, if anyone wants to take a look, ammonia has been low all along but nitrites spiking at 2.0 every time I test with little (5.0) nitrates. Have performed 50% water change in there (Just)

All help appreciated

Stu

red gills is a sure sign of ammonia poisoning, i'm no expert on your fish but water changes should do it as with all high levels.

it could still be ammonia, even at that low level......water changes are still the answer, i think. I imagine NO3 is low because of all the water changes slowing down your cycle.
How well aerated is your tank?
Any sign of gill flukes?
Hope sharky will be ok, best of luck.
