Hello, someone on this forum advised me to get turbo snails for my 29 gallon FRESHWATER tank. As I didn't have time to go to my LFS today, a friend of mine went and picked them up for me. She said that the guy at the shop told her that they were for SALTWATER, but she bought them anyway. Does anyone know if I can put them in my freshwater tank? Please help, as I've got three snails here in a plastic bag and I don't know what I should do with them.

Been looking them up and they seem to be for marine tanks, so i don't no what to do, sorry.

How much water have they come in with, i would keep them tonight if it's to late to take them back.

Holy crap this sucks! They didn't come in very much water at all. Just a bag that's filled about a quarter of the way up. I do have an extra tank laying around, so I'm thinking of just trying to figure out exactly what they need and setting a tank up for them ASAP. It may be too difficult and I may not be able to afford it. My friend has gone to class until after the store closes, and she used her debit card to get them, so I can't return them. I'll have to at least keep them for the night. Geez people can be a bit stupid sometimes... It appears I'm just stuck. :( Thanks for your help, though.

What a nightmare, never kept snails so don't no the first thing about them, do you no anyone with a marine tank you could put them in for the night.

Also try in the marine section further down they might help you out alot more.

Yes, turbo snails are definitely saltwater snails. Put them in a small container with an air pump and a piece of lettuce. They should be fine overnight until you can find a store to give them to.

3fsh is right, turbos are marine snails and wont live in freshwater :(

They should be fine overnight in the water they came in, (they travel far ruther than this from suppliers etc with no trouble). just makes sure you get them back to the shop in the morning and exchange them for more suitable snails. :/
