Hello everybody! My neighbor bought a fish the other day. We tought that she was pregnant since her belly was very big. Today we found her upside down on the tank still living with a HUGE belly. Is she pregnant? If not what's wrong with her? Could you also give me the name of the fish?

Upside down pics don't help much. Try to get some side on ones.

I would say this fish is not pregnant.  It is either some bloating/swim bladder issue or possibly constipation causing bloating and swim badder issues.  You would be better off moving your topic into the emergency section for some more opinions.  I'd suggest starting with fasting the fish for 1-2 days to see if its system clears and the bloating eases off.

Yes, that's definitely not a pregnant (or 'gravid' = full of eggs) fish, it's a sick one.

I think it's an African glass catfish, Parailia pellucida.

You should isolate the fish, if you can, so it can't infect any other fish. You could try a salt bath ( they're not a very salt tolerant species, so one or two tablespoons of Epsom or aquarium salt in a gallon of water, leave the fish in for 20 minutes), but watch the fish closely and take it out if it shows signs of distress (jumping, frantic swimming).

I feel I ought to warn you that there's probably not much you can do for it, at this stage. One fish have bloated that badly, there's usually irreparable damage to it's internal organs :-(

It's not a glass catfish, can't tell what it is... Can you get any better pictures if it's still alive? I Agree it's not pregnant though.
