Hi I have a female betta in isolation and just gave her some food then went out to catch daphnia and got back up and female is now gushing blood from either her gill or base of fin not sure what to do Please any suggestions! She is in isolation for swim bladder problems I thought she had popeye but I was wrong its just how her eyes are!

I just fed her the usual small pellets like I do every day! I catch the daphnia from my pond in the back garden have been doing so for years along with bloodworms and mosquito larva with no ill effects! Yeah I thought a few days a go that one of her eyes was bulging out but it wasnt! She has had swim bladder problems since my friend bought her nearly two weeks ago but I only started treating her at the weekend as thats when I got her!

I've just been to check on her now and the bleeding has stoped but it was just literally pouring out of her and she has gone really pale and has stress stripes now! She is obviously still lying at the bottom of the container she is in looking even more sorry for herself than usual! I really havent a clue what to do with her now!

are there any other marks on the fish ? the reason i am asking is it might be a blood parasite as one of the symptons can be pop-eye & as you are collecting your own foods from a pond you might have unwittingly introduced a leech

This is the first time she has ever had daphnia from the pond and there are def no leaches in the pond as I do a complete clean out of the pond in Feb I just keep back some daphnia ready to go back in as once back in high school introduced leaches to the pond not realising they would kill my tadpoles! But I do see where you are coming from there!

I just went to check on her again and she had jumped out of the container and into my main tank but I managed to catch her too easily! I think she is going to die as she is acting really strange and is trying to jump out of the container! I have just changed the water for her again but only did it yesterday! Should I add some more of the revitalising tonic for her swim bladder problem or just leave her in the warm water!

Thank you for replying so fast!

Added tonic to the water and took dog for a walk and just got back and she was dead, she went pale over the belly and around the face on one side near the eye which was the same side she was bleeding from

RIP sushi

Sorry that must off been awful, bless her, :rip:
