Hi

I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me. I started collecting tropical fish about 7 months ago. I have a male Siamese fighter, 6 white clouds and 3 bronze fish that are bottom feeders (not sure of their exact name). Everything was going fine until Saturday.

I changed about 10% of the water on Thursday and fed the fish. Then fed them on Friday as usual. Then on Saturday when I looked at the tank it was very cloudy and had a layer of scum floating on top. I took the lid off and noticed the 6 white clouds had died. There was also a really strong eggy smell coming from the water. So I changed the crystal pack in my filter and changed about 25% of the water. Adding my water conditioner to the new water 30 mins before adding it to the tank. Ive kept changing about 20% of the water each day but its still very cloudy but the smell had got less. When I looked at the tank this morning the male Siamese fighter never looked too healthy, even though he has been looking fine through all this.

Any advice or help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

What size tank is it?
How long has it been set up?
When you changed the water, did you use de-chlorinator? It's important that you do.
Don't feed them too much.
Do you know about cycling? If not, it's important that you do though your tank probably has cycled if you've had the tank long enough. Read through the links in my signature to understand it.
Do you have a test kit with which you can test your ammonia, nitrIte and nitrAte levels? Again, if you don't know what I'm talking about, read the linkgs in my signature.
The bronze fish are corydoras aenus - also known as the bronse catfish or bronze cory :).
Do a 90% water change right now and then answer my questions.
