What (if any) filtration do you have ? Is it cycled ?

DO A PARTIAL WATER CHANGE NOW ! (maybe 50%)

I agree with rooster... do a partial water change NOWish
and then a 10-20% water change daily until it starts to stabilize again.
Isolate the sick barb if you can although if it's infectious it's probably already spread. Melafix usually fixes all the basic illness' so you might want to get some of that.

I really don't know how to tell if a snail is dead... but if it hasn't been moving for a week then that is kinda fishy. I've got a little snail and it's ALWAYS moving around. Maybe you should think about isolating them too until you see them moving.

I agree.. but only do that big of a change if the tank ph is the same as the tap. Check them both and see if they match (or are very close) if not it may be necessary to do smaller changes over the next few days.If the snails have not moved you should check them with your net, get them out and see if they are alive. if they are dead that is contributing to the high ammonia and they should have been taken out days ago.

It's easy to tell if a snail is dead (at least for the larger ones) - they smell revolting!!!

Take the snail out of the tank and carefully give it a little sniff. You'll soon know. I speak from experience, I once killed some nerite snails when I put them back into a tank I had treated. Apparently 2 days with carbon in the filter before putting them back wasn't enough.
