Urgent Help Needed With Platy!

Hi ive noticed over the last few days that my platy has a pinky/purply colour to his gills area. it has become more apparant this morning. Ive heard in the past that this could indicate problems

can anyboy help me please?
He swims fine and eats with no problems.

water paameters:
ammoniaa=0
nitrites=0.3
nitrates=5-10
ph=6.5-7.0
temp 24-25 degrees

daily water changes are already underway with nitrite problem. no ammonia has been present!

Purple gills are, IIRC, caused by nitrites. Do a water change and hope for the best.

I'm not very sure, sorry. I'm sure Wilder has an answer though.

It's not treatable with meds, so right now the only thing you can do is to keep up the water changes and hope he pulls through.

How long have you had the bad water quality.
Increase aeration in the tank for the gills.
What fish do you have as salt would be good, but not on scaless fish.
