Hi everyone, I need some urgent advice please.

Our Fairy Cichlids have produced approx 30 fry tonight. The fry are all situated in three seperate areas of the tank.
This is the first time this has happened & I really am panicking because I dont know what to do next....

There are approx 25 Medium size Malawi Cichlids in the same tank and the Fairy cichlid mother & father are having a hard time keeping them away!

I have got two spare tanks a 30litre & 60 litre which I could move them to. I have got a small powerhead filter & heater available as well.

Please could someone advise me asap as all the malawis seem extremely stressed!!

Thanks

Fill the 60L up with tank water, put the heater in the tank and turn it on, and then take a bit of filter media from the established tank and put it into your new filter, and turn it on. Immediatley put the parents in, and then introduce a few fry, and wait for them to herd them over into a nest. Then put a few more into ext. until that's all of them. Those parent's will give whatever else is in the tank hell. Especially if they breed again.

Congrats on you fairy Cichlids breeding you seem to have a bit of a problem here i see , i also do think putting them into a tank of there own as they really dont get on with other fish especially during breeding they will attack and even kill others wearing out every other fish in the tank eventually , they are such a superb fish , At the moment ive got around 200+ young fairy cichlids they make great parents and will carry there young in there mouth to a safe location . but they are such a difficult fish to capture escape is such a great skill of theres so i can emagin you having to remove almost everything in the tank by the time you have finnished . i would reccomend using 50% of water from the tank they came from tho if possible. hope there doing ok .
