Hello All!
So, I currently have a medium sized drop of platy fry in my fry trap. I took mum out today after they were born and have removed the divide and grid. HOWEVER, there are two other females in my tank which both look as though they're about to pop. My question is, can i put the divide and grid back in?? Will the fry be able to swim up into the sections with the females? Or am I best to pick up a second fry trap for this situation?

This is the first time I've used the trap for the females to give birth in, as I was concerned about stressing them so they normally give birth in the tank and I catch all the fry i can. Its just that one of the reaming two females is my new sail fin platy and I really want sail fin babies!

THANKS FOR ANY HELP ;)

Put the divide back in if you think its the best thing to do the fry should be OK you'll be getting a bomb load of fry every month I gav up trying to protect mine and I still end up with a tank full

you can put the females in a breeder net in the fry tank.. wait until they give birth and put them back in the tank. but if your fish are well fed and there is enough hiding spots you don't need to worry to much.

I would get a breeder net. They are usually larger and have no dividers. Use the plastic box with divider for birth and the net for a wee bit of grow out.
