i reccently gotten a new molly today since my other one was female and pregnant and dont have the room in my tank since i put him in this morning hes done nothing but constantly chase and attack my smaller molly and my Betta, the betta is scared of this molly and will not come out of the cave i have for them if the molly comes any where near the front of the cave the betta goes right to the back and then hides as much as possible and the other molly just swims away as fast as it can

what can i do about this aggressive molly i have already rang the shop and they wont take it back since it was a replacement for my female one

what do i do?

How large is the tank?

You could try separating it into a breeder net for a while, sometimes that calms them down.

when i put my sailfin in he was agressive for a while, then he settled in and the other fish swim around him with ease, he even plays with them now!

take the lid off, put the net on and cover the whole thing in clingfilm for a temporary lid

+1 he is agressive because he is scared and nervous

ahave quickly just took the aggressive one out and now my other molly and betta are happily swimming around without a problem they are deffiently scared of this aggressive molly  a dont want to run the risk of leaving the aggressive one on there and it ends up killing my betta or my other molly am more bothered about my betta because of its fin has a purple glow when the light catches is which i have never seen befor on a betta looks good

just dangle the net in the tank but dont put the molly in, when he has calmed down release him

so if i get a breeding net i can just put him in there for a while till he calms down then just release him?

just so im prepared what should i do if he really dosnt calm down?

you dont need a breeding net, just a net big enough for him to swim around in

if he doesnt behave after a while then just leave him, it took 2 days fot steve the sailfin to settle in completely. Stop worrying!

got a breeding net cage kind of thing from my grandad that just fit in my tank :) got him in there now and hopefully he will calm down in the next few days

well its been 2 days since a put him the hte breeding net, he managed to escape from it while i was at work
god knows how me managed that but insted of trying to get him back in there i just left him out.

he seems alot calmer now than he did the other day hes just staying out the way of the betta and my other molly is just swimming along side of him and he just dosnt care
so am happy he has calmed down

although i have noticed today that he has a blue tint to his tail and left side of his body but not the right i have googled it and came up with nothing my other molly dose not have this tint
anybody know what it is?
