Sorry about the caps there but I am really in an hour of need here. One of my angels has a split under its belly and some redish/pinkish stuff is spurted out, like a ball, under it. It looks as though it scraped on something, slightly opening its underbelly and some 'gut' seems to be hanging out. Just my luck, I am really in urgent need of help here.

hard call. i think it is a probability that its not cut open and the gut look is an ulser that has poped.(mabe] if you are sure it is cut i would only think to wet cloth put fish on or hold upside down and gently poke it back in with wet cotton bud and a quick dab of iodine and back in the tank . if you leave it the other fish will pick it.
just my emediate thoughts good leck

 doesn't sound good :/ never had anything like this...

Yep maybe try squidlips suggestion above and see how it goes - if there is no improvement and the fish is in distress then it may well be kinder to euthanise -_-

Ok, these are my accountings for today-

Overnight,

1. The fish seems totally fine (normal behaviour, shoaling, eating, coming to the front of the tank for food like the others)
2. The same bahaviour from last night. (Which is normal)
3. The little pink blob seems to still be there at same size (Might be a bit smaller but maybe thats just my positive attitude towards the angel healing) :)

I'll take the fish to the store to get it checked today but all help is still greatly appreciated - (Still quite urgent! )

UPDATE:-

It's been 2 days since the strange incident and a have put him in a quarantine tank with salted water. He is still eating and acting fine however the spot under him seems to have slightly, and only slightly expanded. I took it to my LFS and the owner said the best I could really do is try that salt water method some of you have already told me and see how it goes afer 3 days or so. It's been a day and there really is no sign of recovery here. :( I might give him 2 more days and if it's still still there, expanded or not, then I'll probably have to do the noble thing and euthanise it like wetwetwet said, before feels too much pain. :/

It doesn't seem to be gut sticking out as I had originally thought because it would have surely shown signs of distress. I also tried to put it back in and it definatly doesn't go back in. This means it probably is not a part of its body. This quote from squidlips definatly seems to indicate my angelfish's the problem -

i think it is a probability that its not cut open and the gut look is an ulser that has poped

Ok, if it is that case, how do I cure that? :dunno:

I wouldnt be tempted kill it just yet, give it a chance! personally ive always had good results with just leaving fish to recovery.

What i do is put them is quarantine with lots of plants for cover and alittle salt, i dont light the tank and dont feed them either, i do a small water change everyday and have always see positive results within a week

Thanks for input maestro, :) I'd prefer not to kill it as well so I'll just have to keep waiting.

Ok, on the angelfish note, I woke up this morning to find the spot even bigger than yesterday. :/ It's definatly getting bigger, but the angel still shows no sign of distress. I'll have to try the iodine asap, as that seems to be the only hope. :/

I am also keeping it in salted freshwater, free of nitrates, and 26C temp.

By the iodine part, do you mean any iodine plain from the supermarkets? Or something special at the fish store?

Ok, I found this link - http://www.koivetforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-3852

I quote the problem -
My Oranda and Ranchu were watched by a not very experienced friend while I was away for vacation and after correcting the water problems I noticed a watery pink bubble under the Oranda's scales near the tail. There was no pineconing on the body and breathing and gills seemed normal. I salted the tank and started both fish on an antibacterial diet. The next day it looked like the bubble had errupted and there was a raw red hole about half an inch in diameter. I was afraid it might be a tumor or an ulcer.

And the Results after adding iodine -
I waited another 24 hours and applied Iodine which started working immediately. Two days after applying Iodine the spot has decreased in size and has healed quite a bit. Even the redness is gone.

It explains EXACTLY the same thing wrong with my angelfish right now! It looks like my problem is quite solved, I couldn't thank you enough,

squidlips - For the iodine recommendation
wetwetwet - seconding squidlips and at least replying :D
maestro - Keeping my hope up. :)

I just thought I evaluate the whole situation so if other people have this problem, I can just link them here. :D It seems to definatly be a rare problem as I recieved so few replies. Nevertheless thanks for everything. :)

Cheers, B)
