My female mickey mouse platy is giving birth. She is still in the main tank. Should i put her into the breeding net although it already has about 5 fry in it. Or leave her where she is and just catch the fry as i see them?

hi just catch the fry as you see them drop but do not cause the female stress as she may stop and abort the fry ,if you want the fry tho take them out as other fish will eat them as they think there food

id stick her in the trap or if you have loads of plants and cover in the main tank take a risk and be prepared for nxt time
scot :good:

moving her can couse her to stress trust me been there done it wore the t-shirt and ive lost her and the rest of the fry ,leave her just do the best you can by catching them .if u have plants they will hide in them DO NOT MOVE HER

Thanks guys. Have lots of plants and cover for the fry. So have made the decision to leave her. Will catch any fry as i see them. They can then go in the net for a few days to make sure they are healthy before being moved into the fry tank.

i wouldn't use the net. i recently found 6 dead fry in my breeder net box due to stress she droped them dead. get a tank divider if you can it will save so much!
