Well I had been wondering for the last day or so why the male had been ousting the female from under his rock and today i decided to try and find out why, and he is guarding a whole load of tiny little larval gobies, less than 1mm long each!! I had not even witnessed spawning but I am very happy!

I am less happy that i dont have any rots, baby brine shrimp or plankton ready to put in there so i am trying a bit of liquid plankton and frozen plankton but i am not expecting great things to come of their first spawning.

The species are Priolepis boreus and I had not seen these before i bought the pair and I certainly havent heard of any captive spawning reports (although If i am wrong please point me in that direction, i need some help!)

Any help raising small gobies would be appreciated, im very excited.

Are you going to remove the babies with a breeder net to stop impending fratricide?

No, they are still at larval stage, removing them now would be suicide, its actually considered better to leave them with the parents, especially for the first couple of attempts. If the parents are guarding them then they are often feeding them. A chap on an other forum suggested that they may stir up detrius from the gravel to feed the young, so im trying to leave them to it, although as i said I have added some liquid and frozen plankton to see if that makes a difference.

Managed to get a picture... You can just make out the larval fry even though the pic is pretty blurry and rubbish.
