As the subject lines says, I feel like I'm ready to upgrade. Below is my proposed stocking list. I checked it in ##151### and it said the stocking level was at 90%, but I've been told that site overestimates (so I would have more room than it says). Is this true, or I am bordering on overstocking?

I'm also probably going with a Fluval 405, which is rated for a 100 gallon tank- should I go even higher?

5 guppies (male only)
8 cory cats
5 hangel rasbora
4 sparkling gourami
6 ember tetra
12 black neons
6 celestial pearl danio
20 ghost shrimp
20 cherry shrimp

There's no 'centerpiece' fish...if anyone has any suggestions for one, I can leave out either the danios or the ember tetras. I would do a large group of the hangels instead of the black neons, but they seem very hard to get.

The tank would be heavily live planted, and I'm thinking of switching from gravel to sand.

I'd love any thoughts...I feel like I'm no longer quite a noob, but also not quite experienced yet either.

Personally, I'd concentrate on one or two larger shoals that lots of smaller ones, but I can't see any problems with your proposed stocking.

Definitely go for sand if you're having cories. I don't have any experience of the Fluval, but it should be fine.

If I could get a big group of hangels, I'd focus everything around them...I love the five I have and think they're gorgeous. The problem is my LFS never carries them anymore, and I can't seem to find anyplace reliable with them online.

Do you have a filter you're more familiar with and would recommend?

I have the All Pond Solutions 2000lph on all my four foot tanks (which are 180l, 220l and 240l) and they do a very good job.

All Pond Solutions filters pipes break easily and the in take guard falls off a lot which could be dangerous for small fish. That is my friends experince anyway. I brought one and quickly switched to a Fluval 405 which is a great filter.

The Fluval 405 is in my Fluval Roma 200 and it's pretty powerful, the fish like to try and swim against the current! I highly recommended it.
