Hi there,

Considering DIYing some lights underneith the hood of my trigon. I have about 64cm width to play with both sides of the current lights (64cm including the tube holder).

Are there any about this size? What are the best ones to get and where from?

Thanks,

Jonno.

where can i get these from?

also - off topic question - is WPG calculated in US Gallons or Imperial Gallons?

:good:

American gallons, You can get the lights from lampspecs they stock them in daylight spectrum too which Is ideal, If not Aquaessentials have them.

with wpg its wise to say you have an extra watt than you actually do with HOT5's since they're so powerful.
Lets say you have 3WPG with HOT5's you'll be more like 5/6wpg.

awesome!

are they easy to attach? was considering some sort of industrial strength double sided sticky tape.

They usually come supplied with the clips. I have 1.2WPG but i can grow the red coloured and harder varietie of plants, it is true with HO T5's i sort of have 2.4WPG but i call it 2WPG to be on the safe side!

I have 54w of white light already yes - what is the point in these pink lights, why not make them white? do they make the light in the tank a better colour?

They're just a different kelvin rating. The spectrum should be the same though which is most important. They bring out different colours. I think the pink-ish lights highlight reds.

pink is a kelvin between 4500k - 6500k, the pink and white will make a softer feel on the eyes rather than 2 bright white lights. i had 2 white, changed on for a green, makes a lot of difference.

right so 54w white light and 48w pink would be a good selection? or should i just go for 1 and look for another white one?

sure they are 24w each?:good:
