whatcha think?

I transfered the old filter to this tank, so it has all the bacteria and that still, (beneficial kind)
but the water's to cold still, I have a thermometer in the tank, still has about 15 C to go up by, How long do you think I should wait before putting my 3 platys in?
(the two pregnant females and the male)

Can you not add any more water than that?

Also, you should of added a bit of boiling water, to bring the temp up abit :)

I'd move the thermometer round the side of the tank, out the main view, or put it on the far side of the front peice of glass B-)

Ah, good idea! Thanks alot! :)
I put some hot water in the tank, it's now at 19 C, it should usually be between 22-29 C right?

Yes, you need to fill the tank to the top since the more water, the less ammonia build up.

Are the platies you have currently in a cycled tank? If so, make sure the new tank is fully cycled before putting them in. If the other tank isn't cycled, and you already have the platies, might as well stick them in. Adjust the heat and get it RIGHT! Putting hot water doesn't make sense when it'll cool off back to the lower temp IF the heater isn't working or doing its job.

Ya, I put the platies in, (I already had them from the 5.5 gallon) The temp has been staying at 78 F for the last 15-16 hrs, so the tempurature is definitely good now :)

EDIT:
The platies were in a cycled tank (and I used the same aquaclear filter in the 10 gallon tank)
so they beneficial bacteria will still be there,... The platies are doing great today! I just put in my heavily pregnant female guppy in the breeder box in there, as I want to save the babies and sell them (I made another post so you can check it out and let me know if she looks like she's due now)

Hi,
Glad everything is working out and your platies are happy!

Best of luck with your pregnant guppy. I just bought one today and am putting her in a tank with two other female guppies (who aren't pregnant - I've had them for MONTHS since they were little and they never had produced fry.) Should be interesting. Right now she's still floating in her bag. . .guess it's time to go check on her :)
