Now for the hard bit  at the moment i have a 30w arcadia original tropical bulb (i know dim and redish lol). The hood has the ballast built in (juwel rekord) so a second lamp is a bit of a pain unless its put near the front. the questions i have are,
1- is this ok, or is a new hood in order
2- best lamp to go with
3- any other advice would be most welcome

i dont think you can get away with one 30 wat bulb on a 120l ( roughly 30 gals) unless your gonna go for em low light plants but another bulb would be good and another one to make it 3 watts per gallon is great :p thats in my opinion.. btw choose your bulbs wisely :) like your tank btw :)

cheers Kenneth, ,what i ment was i am uprating the lighting, but am having dificulty with the hood due to lack of room.I can add a tube near the front of hood, the rear part has the ballast for main tube.Sorry for the confusion

Tropical Original is recommended with Arcadia Freshwater for plants.

Moving the tropical to the front give a better effect.

Definatley get another tube, if not the Freshwater somthing similar in the same wavelength.

Good luck

Cheers Sanj just got the freshwater and ballast , just got to find a way to gash it , eer i mean fix it to the hood :D
waiting on a reflector too.
That will give me 60w +reflectors do you think thats enough to be gettin along with?

Yup that should be fine for low to med light plants.

You have about 2.3 wpg with 60w.

blimy that was quick lol, cheers now to fit it
