Update on Minnie the platy

I posted a few day ago asking whether my platy was pregnant any way i go to have a look at her tonight and she seems a bit skinnier but she still has a faint gravid spot. If she has had her fry i cant see any in the tank i guess they have been eaten. I s it possible that she may have another batch of fry. I got her out of a mixed tank of males and female at my lps 4 weeks ago. How long can they store sperm for. Thanks

She will still have a gravid spot after she has had her babies, it will just be smaller than before, or she could be part way through giving birth.

The fry could be hiding in your tank; they have a tendency to keep under cover for a week or two. It depends on how many hiding places, plants, rocks etc. you have in your tank and also what type of other fish you keep.

She should have another batch of fry in about four or five weeks time, it is possible for them to store enough sperm to fertilize from four to seven batches of fry.

Good luck with the breeding and I hope you find some baby platys hiding somewhere in your tank.
