Gasses? There won't be any really. Just make sure the filters provide ample surface agitation and that will allow oxygen and co2 to exchange.

Take out all decoration as it takes up swimming space.

Do a very generous water change just before you go but DON'T do a big feed. They'll simply pass out all the waste from this and it will sit in the tank 2 weeks. Feed them the day before you do this last water change. Theyll be fine without food a fortnight.

Thanks so much for all this!
I took out all the gravel apart from a handful yesterday and all the plastic plants. They hovered over the corner of small stones for a while. I think it was because they could see their refection in the bottom of the tank? They are fine now.
Should I do 90%? Out of 60L how much should I take out do you think? I was going to do 54L.
I do not have the internal Juwel filter, I have an internal Aqua-Flow 200 (for 100-200L tanks).
The tank is empty of everything apart from an ornamental stone which I left in there to perhaps break up the flow of the water so they can rest behind it. it's only about 3.5" high and the same across with a hole in the middle.
I fed them this morning. I have two 10L buckets waiting to go in there tonight (with water conditioner) and will do more buckets depending on how much people think I should change. I think 54L?? I have a Juwel Rekord 60L. The filter is new and have had the tank set up since Saturday. Two little filters going too which one has been going in a 10L tank for over a month. SO my tank is not cycled for those who have not read my previous posts. The nitrite was high and I have been doing daily changes of between 10-35% since Sat.

Yes this would be good to rid any diseases or parasites lurking in the water.

never change 90% of a tanks water in one go. it is removing too much of their bacteria in which they thrive in.

Sorry, but not true. The majority of the bacteria live in the filter. People actually RECOMMEND big water changes nowadays as they're considered the first line of treatment for most fish diseases.

Massively incorrect. Ignore this advice. There is minimal bacteria in tank water, virtually nonexistant, and fish don't 'thrive' in it.

Catfish4ever, this is an ongoing situation covered in a few posts by the OP now. Her tank is not cycled and the fish will be going in a pond in a few weeks. We are trying to make the tank suitable for when she goes away for a fortnight.

OP, as long as you're not cleaning the filters and are using dechlorinated water, continue to do as large a water change as you can.

Thanks so much! You are a life-safer! I can't thank you enough.
I will do the 90% tonight and treat the water with the nutrafin aqua plus that I have. I also have a bottle of chlorine control which is the same thing but will use the other one just mentioned.
What would I have done without your help?
I know what I would have done... Kept the Angelfish, catfish & swordfish out of ignorance and put in a holiday block, not done so many water changes, kept all that gravel and plastic plants in and been terribly upset when I got back to find all dead fish! I would have been distraught!

And you would not have been the first, and you won't be the last! Grr, holiday blocks...

What will be will be. You're doing your best. Goldfish are pretty resilient compared to some other fish, I suspect they'll all be alive in two weeks. In need of some tlc I'm sure, but alive.
