i have a 20 gallon brackish tank, with top fin. 20 gallon filter. 100 watt heater. the temperature is at the right temp. for the type of fish. and its just 3 green spotted puffers. i have done no testing because Ive ran out of strips and i just wanted to know how long i MUST wait for it to be done with the cycling process, because my fish are getting very restless in the tank there stuck in.

You need to wait until ammonia and nitrites are zero, then do a large water change to remove the nitrates.
It will probably take a few weeks.
But you mean your fish are in the cycled 20g and your waiting to move them into a bigger tank? or something...?
If you already have a cycled tank you can transfer part of the filter media (sponge, pads, whatever) to the new tank and it's pretty much cycled. :good:

Or, if you are tearing down a tank and upgrading, you can just run the filter from the first tank alongside the filter of the new tank, and it is an instant cycle.

It could take weeks to cycle (assuming you are doing it with ammonia - if you are not adding anything, it will never cycle).

Get a new test kit =)
