Update: Cure It, And Something Else Will Come!

He could be.
But seen it all to often looks like there getting better then down hill again.
Good luck though.

Thanks, he's much better today, even better than yesterday! He's now actively swimming, his laboured breathing stopped, and is eating vigorously! I still have medicine ready at hand if he gets worse though.

I saw my male that died mating with the female a week ago. Does that necesarilly mean she will have babies?

Females can store sperm for months, so yes more babies on the way.
Glad he's getting better, fish can sometimes surprise you, though not very often sadly.

Thanks everyone! HE is still good so I'm about 99% sure everything is going well.

About the babies, I can't buy a fry tank so should I let nature take its course or save a few fry in a breeding net?

I would let nature take it's course, you will be overun with them.
Or find an lfs who will take the fry off your hands.

All right, thanks.

Bad news. I just found Ick in the tank! I'm not sure how I exactly missed it yesterday or before. I always carefully inspect my fish. Somehow it has spread to every fish except the one who had fin rot! (Ironic eh?) Some are worse than others. I've taken out the entire Bio-bag from my filter and put in an Ick medicine already. Should I just take out the charcoal or the entire thing? (plastic piece, charcoal, slip over cover (foamy) )

Also my new male is chasing the male that had fin rot whenever he sees him. I thought that was weird because now he's really sick and not the other one. Anything bad about that?

Only thing you remove is the charcoal.
Turn temp up to 30 and increase areation in the tank, as the high temp and med will reduce 02 in the tank.

Okay, I found out you have to put everything else back in except the charcoal! Um...this may seem like a dumb question but.....what is 30 degrees C in F?

Do you think 30C is too much for swordtails and platies?Oh about the pregnant fish. Do you think the male was unsuccessful in mating, because she's not showing any signs of being pregnant. Or does it take more than a few weeks to show signs for a swordtail?

No that the temp you raise it to with whitespot.
But aeration is very important as the temp and med will reduce 02 in the water.
How old is the female.

In the original post it said “Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):I have 2 rocks, a piece of driftwood, and 3 fake plants.â€￾… Did all the sickness happen right after the new rocks/wood where added, and where did you get the new additions????? I ask because if the rocks/wood where randomly picked up on the beach or wherever they may be leeching metals among other things into your water… Just something to consider… Good luck…

The new rocks and driftwood were store bought. (Sorry, I should have called the wood something else) I washed them all very carefully without any kinds of chemicals, just tap water. (Not sure if washing with tap water was good or bad) The illness struck about....a week and a half after I put my fish in.

Wilder: I'm not exactly sure how old the female is. I have had her for two weeks and the male mated with her a week and a half ago I believe. She is definetly bigger than the two males I have now and was smaller than the male that mated with her. If I had to put a guess on her age I would probably say at least 1 1/2-2 yrs.

Right she old then bless her she done well to get to that age, she won't have babies now then she to old.
