Fish Fanatic
Okey dokey then....
Against advise I added both kribensis and apistogrammas to my new 75g dwarf cichlid tank. My set up has 6 coconut caves and two big pieces of faux driftwood with several caves each in them. I also have two small ( ~5" each) for my clown plecos and the tank is moderately planted to break line of sight amongst the caves.
I have 14 zebra danio as dithers
2 clown plecos
6 otos
1 pair apistogramma agassizi double red
1 pair apistogramma rotpunkt
1 pair kribensis
Ghost and amano shrimp, and 3 small pearl mystery snails
Let me say first that I have a new 30g cycling with mature media if things go bad with the kribs and apistos.
So, I started with two female and two male kribs. The females originally hung out and danced for each other and would beat up/chase off the males. Then the dominant male and female paired up and turned on the other two. The subdominant male and female didn't want much to do with each other for a while but also ended up pairing. The dominant pair took over the tank (as I was warned). A friend with a new 55g took that pair, and I kept the subdominant pair. I also had a pair of apisto agassizi and a pair of apisto rotpunkt in the tank.
Interestingly, the new dominant pair if the tank is the apistogramma agassizi who have no problem holding their own against the kribs wo are bigger than them. It looks like the Agassizi have claimed the left side of the tank, the rotpunkt have the middle, and the kribs have the right. They each chase the others from their 'territories' but stop there.
I'll keep an eye on them and move the kribs at the first sign of real trouble.
