Unsure Of Substrate.

Hi there,

I am putting some plans together for a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft heavily planted discus tank together and am unsure what substrate to go with. In fact I am fairly naive what direction to go in.

Also is dark red volcanic soil/clay laterite?

ADA AS is the best but dear, then i would go with eco complete. Tetra plant is good and cheap but it needs capping.

You get what you pay for.

If you don't mind a bit of work, Akadama is getting good results. It mucks with your GH/KH values unless you pre-soak it and stuff.

With as do I add things like peat and blood and bone to the base?
