Hi everyone, over the last couple of days iv noticed a white cotton like substance around the mouth of my Texas cichlid and a tiny bit on my male Dempsey.

Iv checked my water with an API liquid test kit....
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20

The tank is a rio 400 (450 litre)I have a fluval fx5 filter and do weekly 40% water changes and sand vac.

Fish in the tank are my Texas, male and female jack dempsey, red devil and orange spotted plec. Largest is the devil at around 5 inches.

Anyway, I rang my Lfs (maidenheads) and explained the problem. Thet asked me how long the tank had been set up and what my water parameters were then they told me I need protozin and the bottle would be used over a 4 day course. They also said to dose the tank on days 1,2,3 and then day 6 and then do a large water change a couple of days after day 6.

Is this correct?

I'm no expert, but do trust Maidenhead Aquatics to give good advice, I've always been impressed with the advice that they have given me.
