I was in K-Mart and saw this glass... thing. It's kind of like a clear glass vase except it's about two feet tall and a foot in diameter. It's gorgeous and looks like it'd hold 5 to 7 gallons, guesstimating. I was regularly priced at $150 reduced to $35!!!
I thought, what a great place for a betta (kind of like the notorious betta-in-a-vase fad, but actually big enough for a betta!) I'd probably put sand in the bottom, and some sort of a lily or other live vegetation in as well.
My only problem is with heating/filtering. I could put a box filter in the bottom and a submersible heater, but it would stand out like a sore thumb. Also I dont think box filters work with sand, is this true? Is there some sort of mini-heater that would be less noticable? Has anyone tried using something not designed for fish as a decorative tank?
