Hi,

I'm currently soaking all my bogwood at the moment and was going to start looking for what substrate to have in the tank. A LFS has reccommended the Unipac gravel as a good substrate for a planted tank. I was looking to get hold of some of the eco complete substrate but he said the Unipac is more than suitable and much cheaper.

Has anyone else had experience or knowledge of the two?

Thanks

Unipac gravel is just gravel. It's inert, so won't soak any nutrients up or contain any nutrients. Eco complete is a nutrient rich substrate. Gravel is fine for a planted tank, however, some nutrients don't go a miss in the substrate. You could always buy some JBL aquabasis and top in with the gravel. Aquabasis is quite cheap.
