Unheated, Unlit Options?

I look after a tank with 2 axolotls in. I currently have 2 java fern like things, but with fatter leaves and more scruffy looking, tied to a piece of bogwood. I have a slate cave that I could grow something on, would any mosses survive? Or any other rhizome plants that need to be tied on rather than buried?
I was thinking something floating would be nice as the water level is quite low. Would anything survive? It's not near a window or anything, as that would raise the temp too much, so just ambient room lighting.

try duckweed, and anubias, and also egeria densa

Thanks aaron. I'll give duckweed a go, definitely. If I can find some anubias, they'd look good growing on the slate cave.
Does the egeria densa need to be planted? It's a no go if it does, as they are so big and thrash around sometimes that they'd uproot anything planted!

it can be planted or left floating, it is pond weed so grows well in low light & cold temperatures, you could add some foam and lead weight around the bottom, or use a plant pot, the black plastic with lots of holes are best compared to the ceramic pots.

Leave it in the pot you mean? Fab idea, that would get around them thrashing about. I'll see what I can pick up
