I have a 30 gallon tank (set up in April - fully cycled, don't know PH etc. - just use tapwater with Chlor-out added, keep around 81 F - my fish never get sick - usually live longer than normal) with an Eclipse system (lights/filter). Last water change I somehow managed to kill the filter - went a week with no filter (sigh)...only did 1 water change with no loss of fish lives (have 6 black skirt tetras, 5 neons, 1 cardinal tetra, 1 gold gourami, 3 harlequin rasboras, 2 panda cories, 3 peppered cories, 4 otocinclus sp?. Tank still seems so empty!) Today I bought a Fluval 3 underwater filter. Anyone have experience with these (good/bad)? Seems nice - you have lots of control on water movement, and has 2 filter pads inside so you can alternate cleaning them. Also has a clogging indicator so you know if there is a problem. It does look like a bit of an eyesore in the tank but it doesn't take up much room so I can deal with that ...comments? (fish seem to like the water current - they've been swimming madly - so active and excited looking!)
