Under gravel has been used for years and years. Why all of a sudden its a NO NO!
It always makes me laugh when something comes along and we have to have it, when the old one is just as good.
4 inches of gravel is required because it then gives enough weight to suck harder .
2 inches and you may aswell not bother.
By the way i have both but due to the more capacity of Tanks now then one or another is not good enough for a large capacity.
Have both and that's the answer unless its a small tank and i would use a UGF everytime.
