Hey fellow fishie dudes
fish.gif

i'm going to be upgrading my tank in April an wanted to know what people think about my tank choices

I've got a budget of approx £300 and am currently looking at 3 tanks - they are

Juwel Rio 125
Fluval Roma 125
Juwel Rekord 800 (110l)

I'm siding with the Juwel Rio at the moment as i've read it has a better lighting system and I want to keep some live plants in there too, I also like that if i'm going to have an internal filter, the Rio's can be hidden away with the rather expensive Juwel backgrounds.  Does anyone know of other tanks available of a similar size and price I should maybe consider.  I was looking at the Roma as its a similar price to the Rio, and has a much nicer cabinet, but have been a bit put off by stories i've read about the supplied lighting.

has anyone got any experience of these tanks, or is what i'm reading false by your experience maybe?

Where is best to buy it? - Seapets have the Rio + cabinet for £269 including a Net, background plus dorset pea gravel which seems to be the best deal I can find.

Anyone got any plant advice.....i'll most likely be sticking to

all help greatly appreciated - would love to keep the start up costs down if at all possible.

Welcome to the forum. Is your budget 300 euros for everything because then paying 270 euros for the basics may be expensive when you count food, fish, and other things. The largest tank your looking at seems to be around 29g-30g, and 270 euros seems a lot for that. You can get a 29g aqueon kit (with filter, heater, net, tank) it will cost around $70-80 (60 euros). The stand, you can probably get an upright stand and hood for 100 euros top, I'm not sure on the figure.

Welcome to the forum, and for plant advice, t5 is best for beginners (2-4 bulbs) and go with more simple plants. best of luck!

Looked to me like the OP was working in GBP£ not Euros?

If so and you are wanting to buy new... looking at the tanks you have listed...

It is £30-40 over your budget... but might be worth it? I don't know...

Is the AquaManta Eco80. At 80x40x50 cm, I *think* that makes it around 160-170L mark so little bigger in capacity but mainly because its a little deeper. Though I might have bungled the capacity lol... I might be similar capacity...

But its a solid build, the cabinet is way better quality than that of the other ranges, has good t5 lighting like the Juwel tank but actually has a decent external filter. If you go with Juwel, you'll be tearing your hair out over the filter and before long, ripping it out and buying a new external filter... especially if going planted!

There is always the option of paying another £20 and upgrading the external filter with the AquaManta one.

Hi,

I picked up a fluval Roma 200 that was less than 6mths old & in immaculate condition for £130. Got filter, heater & loads of other stuff.
Made up with it & the build quality on the Roma range seems good. Check the classified section out on the forum, some bargains do crop up.

Good luck
