Hi guys, I have a problem I bought a flame angel about 3 weeks ago and he was doing fine for the first 2 weeks and then I went on vacation for a week. I came back last night and this morning I noticed he has a white film over one of his eyes. What's wrong with him? What can I do to help him out :-( . Thanks -Zipp

The eye is bulging a bit. I researched what I could find and I think he may have Pop-eye. I have a bunch of different frozen fish food I feed him and the other fish I have. I also put in a bit of flake food every now and again. I switch off the food every feeding so they get a little bit of everything.

Got pics? If its popeye I cant really help since I dont know squat about the disease. Pretty sure its bacterial, but dont have much knowledge other than that

I'll try and post a pic today. From what I read about Pop-eye is that, there really isn't much you can do. I just has to run its course.

Ok here's the best pic I could get, I know it sucks but I took like 500 pictures and this was the best I could get :/ . So here it isSick fish

Ive read up a little and it seems the eye inlargement can be caused by a number of things. One could be physical damage leading to a bacterial infection, or another main cause could be a rise in tank temperature.

Making sure water quality is high, and frequent water changes should help. :good:

Connecting this with your other post regarding ich leads me to believe you may have Oodinium.

Ich doesnt tend to form on the eyeball whereas Oodinium will cause a film over the eyes.

If you have Oodinium then i advise you take immediate measures to ensure the safety of the rest of your fish.

Invest in a UV steriliser and or Ozone unit. Remove the fish and treat them with copper, leave the main tank running without fish for 5-6 weeks with raised tank temperature and lower Water SG.
