My roommate's betta has dropsy. He is in a two gallon critter keeper, water stats all normal. So far, we have changed his water and are treating him with salt, maracyn, maracyn 2, and Colloidal Silver. I am working on warming up his water. Is there anything else we can do for the little guy?

The little guy may have a chance. He was so lethargic last night that I did not expect him to make it through the night. He did, though, and while he doesn't LOOK any better, he is moving around a bit more. Keep saying those prayers, sukie. ;)

What type of salt are you treating with? Epsom salt is best as it helps to reduce the fluid, normal aquarium salt is not good for dropsy.

I hope he pulls through, the maracyn1 and 2 plus colloidal has been succesful for some peeps, although I have never got it to work now :(

Usually by the time you can diagnose it as dropsy, it's too late. I wish someone would figure out how to do nanobots that you can program to go inside (the fish) and kill off hte baddies but until they do, you did the best you could.

sorry for yours and your friends loss, ive lost a few fish to dropsy, but never a betta, they have so much personallity its hard to watch them sick or hurt
