My mam came in and seen fry swimming about the tank, when I came in an hour later she said 'theres something changed in the tank' and I looked around for about 10 mins and couldn't see anything, all the fish were there ect. Then she pointed to some fry! I don't know what fry it is but it's in the heavily planted part of the tank with 4x Natural ferns, 3x Very thick silk plants and a big java fern. I don't know what fry they are but I think they are mollies, my female has been vertical for a few days and I thought she was ill, and shes been in the cave and under the bridge. She seems thinner too, but she didn't even look pregnant. The following are in my tank.
7x Neon tetras
1x Placid gourami/ram
2x Albino corys
2x Mollies (I know I should have 3 but they were my brothers until a few days ago)

They are see-through with little black eyes, you can see there head wich is a whitey colour, I think they are only a day old!

So far I have spotted about 10 fry and the only thing that seem to bother them are the neons, what do you think are the chances of them surviving are? Also can the fry eat any of the following?
Flakes (I can crush up)
Floating sticks
Algae wafers
I sometimes get bloodworm to.

Thanks in advance,
Neal

P.S- This is my first fry so i'm excited and want to keep them alive. I will try to borrow my brothers heater but I think he's using it for his guppy fry.

hi,
congrats on your mollie fry :) ,
crushed flake is good and any frozen food i feed mine shrip brine and daphnien,
my neons chase fry too but ive lots of plants and hiding places, some should make it out of 30 mollie fry i still got 10 that made it, my mollie swam weird the day before she gave birth and she was mardy too lol,
good luck with them :fun:

Thanks, I have moved them to a smaller safe tank now! =D
I posted in the emergency forum to ask a question about the tanks. Thanks again and good luck with your remaining 10 mollies!
Is daphnia also known as 'sea monkeys'?
Oh, and when I moved them to another tank, I realised there was about 30 and there may be more in the big tank but I can't see any.

Thanks,
Neal

hi,
good luck with yours too,
i think i have homes for mine now thats why i let mum have them in main tank,
30 fry every 4-6weeks is too many for me to keep :hyper: ,
i dont know what sea monkeys are other wise know as.
maybe some one will answer that soon :)

Thank's for your help Donna, but theres on thing, I have posted in the emergency forum, but nobody is reading because they think its a ' I found fry what do I do' topic, but this is the question. I can either put the fry in my main tank with a heater and lots of fish that may become hungry, or in a little tank without a heater in the warmest room in the house, and I have central heating, I can buy a heater in a few days.
I personally think I should try the little tank until there a few weeks old, how old should they be before I put them in my main tank? (I'm probably going to sell them to my LFS when they are old enough).

Thanks in advance,
Neal

How warm is the house? The little tank is probably safer, but if it has temperature fluctuations, the stress might be too much for them. It's hard to say.

Age isn't a factor so much as size. Too big to fit in the biggest fish's mouth is the rule of thumb.
