This might take a while, so lets start. I had this really awesome idea, I've had my big premier tank for a little while now and was thinking of different ways I could go about in the future such as these options:

- One Big tank w/ optional quarantine tank
- Two half size tanks example - Planted tank, Reef tank
- Several smaller nano tanks

Then all of a sudden I decided I could keep my big tank (which I would have anyway) and thought of having several nano tanks based off the three main biomes: Freshwater, Brackish, Saltwater, and I have a really long table behind my couch I could use the space for. These are the different separate biomes I'm doing:

Freshwater

- Lakes/Pond (Arctic)
- Rivers/ Streams (Tropical)

Estuary

- Rivers to Oceans (Arctic)
- Brackish Marsh (Tropical)

Saltwater

- Ocean (Arctic)
- Reef (Tropical)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So not to bombard everyone with so many biomes, but I would like to have AT LEAST three different fish for each biome that can get along, I like to slightly overcrowd my tanks, so five different fish for each biome (a fish per gallon) would be much appreciated.

Also, what kind of aquascape could I do for each one? I already know I have to get 3 chillers and 3 heaters.......

Another thing I might have to point out, I'm a noobie when it comes to Brackish water and have NO clue what I'm doing in Saltwater, I know my stuff in Freshwater at least.

Any small input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Right, first of all, you will want to decide what fish you want to have and THEN decide on the biotope suitable for the fish stocking you choose.

That, IMO, would be the best way to start.

Here's a link for nano tank suggested stocking, start there and then work your way to your desired aquascape...

Good luck and do keep us posted on your decisions and queries.

BTW, I too, do not know much about marine or brackish waters so cannot really advise about these, sorry!

There are no fish that are estuarine I van think of except for endlers,

Look at the nano discussion posted above

Cheers :D

The only fish I can think of that will suit a 5 gallon brackish is bumblebee goby, and even then, you would only be able to keep maybe 1 or a sexed pair.

Also, a 5 gallon reef is going to be such a pain in the butt, with the amount of evaporation you are going to have insane salinity shifts.  Most of the time, people with pico reefs have their tank lined into a bigger system, or a large sump underneath the cabinet, so the entire volume of the system is larger then merely 5 gallons.   Also, there are not many suitable fish for 5gallons, you may be able to put again, a sexed matched pair of clown goby, or maybe firefish, but this is seriously pushing it still, and you would have to keep a very close eye on their stress levels.

Pretty much, this is a great idea for a display, but is going to be difficult to execute with 5 gallon tanks, get 10 gallon tanks and stocking will be much easier.
